The 82nd (Prince of Wales’s Volunteers) Regiment Lieut. Colonel’s 1855 Pattern Shako, an extremely fine and rare example, the black beaver covered body with sunken patent leather top similar bottom bracing band and front and rear peaks, two broad gold lace rank bands around the top of the body, the exceptionally fine frontal plate of crowned star pattern with pierced gilt Garter mount this with a gilt ‘mirror back’ slip, in the centre on a patent leather ground ‘82’, buff leather sweatband with full crimson silk lining part detached supplied by ‘Parfitt Roberts & Parfitt, 75 Jermyn St., St. James’s, London’, complete with its half inch patent leather chin strap, pierced gilt plume holder which is of 1844 pattern and white over red wool correct size ball plume, together with an unnamed correct pattern carrying tin, very slight damage where the plume holder prong enters the shako otherwise in exceptional condition for age £700-900
