The Leicestershire Militia Officer’s 1869 Pattern Officer’s Shako, a fine quality example, the blue cloth body complete with all silver plated fittings and silver braid trimming, the very fine frontal plate of 1855 pattern, officially shortened to fit the shako of crowned star pattern with central circle ‘Leicestershire Militia’ in the centre on a domed ground a large VR cypher, buff leather sweatband, dark brown silk lining throughout, supplied by ‘Cater & Co., Pall Mall, London’, the plate is original to the shako, the silver plated plume holder is of 1861 pattern with correct white over red ball plume, one small moth nip to the crown indifferently repaired otherwise very fine overall condition £400-500
