India General Service 1908-35 (2), 1 clasp, North West Frontier 1930-31 (V-1785 Pte. Sikandar, I.A.V.C.); another, 2 clasps, Waziristan 1921-24, North West Frontier 1930-31, unofficial rivets between clasps, as issued (Ris-Maj. Sanwal Khan, I.A.V.C.) number officially corrected on first, rank partially officially correct on latter, nearly very fine (2) £70-90

Sanwal Khan was born on 3 July 1888 and graduated from Veterinary College on 12 April 1912. He served during the Great War and joined the Indian Army Veterinary Corps on 18 February 1919. He was stationed initially with the Mobile Veterinary Section at Kirkak from 23 May to 31 July 1919, and then with the Veterinary Hospital at Bushire. He was advanced Jemadar on 18 February 1924 and subsequently served with Remount Depot at Mona. He was awarded the Order of British India 1st Class on 10 February 1930, and retired on 30 June 1931, being granted the honorary rank of Captain on retirement, as well as the honorific of Sardar Bahadur.
