M.M. London Gazette 16 July 1918.

Thomas Robert Gray was born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne on 21 January 1893, and attested for the Northumberland Fusiliers. He served with the 14th (Service) Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 9 September 1915, and was wounded early in 1916 (Regimental Journal refers). He was awarded the Military Medal for his gallantry on the Western Front in 1918, most likely for bravery during the period 21-24 March 1918, when the Battalion was engaged in heavy fighting with the enemy in the area west of Epehy and to the north of Peronne, west of the Somme. He was discharged to Class ‘Z’, Army Reserve, on the cessation of hostilities, and died at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle-upon-Tyne on 29 June 1951.

Sold with copied Medal Index Card; Battalion War Diaries; and other research.
