D.C.M.
London Gazette 21 October 1918:

For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. This N.C.O. rendered conspicuously good service during heavy fighting, lasting some eight days. His duties rendered it necessary for him to remain constantly in the open, in order to keep in touch with the movements of the enemy, during which time he was almost continuously under heavy hostile shell fire. His courage and devotion to duty were worthy of the highest praise.’

H. Jessie Croome served in France from 16 March 1915. His Medal Index Card also shows award of a Military Medal.
