A Crimea D.C.M. group of four awarded to Colour Sergeant C. Dillon, 30th Foot

Distinguished Conduct Medal, V.R. (Corpl. Chas. Dillon. 30th. ..); Crimea 1854-56, 3 clasps, Alma, Inkermann, Sebastopol (Corp. C. Dillon. 30th. Regt.) contemporarily engraved naming, unofficial rivets between clasps and clasp carriage broken on right hand side between first and second clasps; Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., 3rd issue, small letter reverse (3062 Cr. Serjt. Chas. Dillon 30th. Foot); Turkish Crimea 1855, Sardinian issue (No. 3062 Sergt Charles Dillon 30th Regt) contemporarily impressed naming, with Crimea-style suspension, heavy contact marks, therefore good fine and better (4) £1400-1800

Charles Dillon was born in Athlone, Westmeath, Ireland, and attested for the 30th Foot at Athlone in April 1849. He served with the Regiment in the Crimea, and advanced to Sergeant in May 1855. Dillon was promoted Colour Sergeant in October 1863, before being discharged 1 November 1870, having served 21 years and 204 days with the Colours.
