Arthur Charles Donald Marshall served during the Great War in the Royal Artillery before receiving a commission as Second Lieutenant, Royal Field Artillery (Special Reserve). Posted to the 103rd (Suffolk) Brigade, Royal Field Artillery (Territorial Army) on 9 June 1923, he transferred to the 409th (Suffolk) Anti Aircraft Battery; was advanced to Major; and was created an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in the 1935 Birthday Honour’s List. Transferring to the 78th (1st East Anglian) Anti Aircraft Regiment on 1 November 1938, he served during the Second War and was promoted Brevet Lieutenant-Colonel; having reached the age limit of liability to recall, he ceased to belong to the Territorial Army Reserve of Officers on 13 December 1950.
