Keith Vivian Wiltshire was born at Devizes, Wiltshire, on 27 October 1933, and attested for the Queen’s Own Royal West Kent Regiment at Maidstone, Kent, as a National Serviceman on 20 September 1951. Posted to the Army School of Education on 9 November 1951, he served with the Royal Army Education Corps in Malaya from 1 April 1952 to 27 August 1953. He was discharged on 11 October 1953, and subsequently joined the Royal Wiltshire Yeomanry (Territorial Army), serving with them until 15 July 1955.
