Henry Bell was born in the Parish of Igman, Stirling, and was enlisted into the Royal Horse Artillery at the age of 19 on 30 July 1806, a miller by trade. He served in the Peninsula in Lieutenant-Colonel Macdonald’s “E” Troop and was discharged 30 September 1814 from Lieutenant-Colonel Gardiner’s Troop, ‘being unfit for further service, is placed on the Reserve List at six pence per diem commencing 1 October 1814’. Sold with copied discharge papers.
