Military General Service 1793-1814, disc only (Geo. Clarke, 92nd Foot) has been gilded and rim filed down on both sides, good fine £300-400

George Clarke was born in the Parish of Kerriemuir, Forfar, and enlisted into the 92nd Foot for unlimited service at Aberdeen on 18 September 1803, aged 18. He was discharged as an out-pensioner from Kilmainham Hospital, Dublin, on 18 May 1817, in consequence of ‘wound of right leg received 30th July 1813 at the Pass of Maya, and another through the Body on the 16th June 1815 at Quatre Bras, being rendered unfit for further service.’

He lived to claim the M.G.S. medal with 8 clasps, for Corunna, Fuentes D’Onor, Vittoria, Pryenees, Nivelle, Nive, Ortes and Toulouse, and also received the Waterloo medal. Sold with copied discharge papers.
