Thomas Watson was born in Dundee, Forfarshire. He served during the Great War with the 1st Battalion, Royal Highlanders in the French theatre of war from 11 September 1914. Gibson was killed in action, 29 October 1914. On the latter date the Battalion were heavily engaged repulsing a German attack down the Menin Road, as part of the Battle of Ypres. Watson is buried in the Perth Cemetery (China Wall), Ypres, Belgium.
