David Findlay was the ‘eldest son of Mr and Mrs D. Findlay, 17 N. Wellington Street, Dundee, is reported missing in the Middle East from May 29. Twenty-seven years of age, he has been 5 1/2 years in the army, and served in Palestine. Prior to enlisting he was a farm servant at Berryhill, Fowlis Easter, and played for Fowlis Hearts F.C.’ (extract from the Courier, dated 9 July 1941, refers)

Findlay served with the 2nd Battalion, Black Watch during the Second War and was later confirmed as killed in action during the evacuation from Crete, 28 May 1941.

Private Findlay is commemorated on the Athens Memorial, Greece.
