1914 Star, with clasp (1461 Sjt. D. [sic] Glass. R. Highrs); British War and Victory Medals (1461 W.O. Cl. 2. D. M. Glass. R. Highrs.); Memorial Plaque (David Menzies Glass), this a cast copy; Memorial Scroll, mounted on card; and Black Watch Prize Medal, 1 clasp, 1912, reverse inscribed, ‘Inter-Coy. Challenge Shield won by “D” Coy. Cpl. D. N.(sic) Glass’, silver and enamel, hallmarks for Birmingham 1912, minor enamel damage to last, otherwise generally good very fine unless otherwise stated (5) £200-300

David Menzies Glass was born in Newburgh, Fifeshire. He served during the Great War with the 1st Battalion, Royal Highlanders in the French theatre of war from 13 August 1914. Having advanced to Warrant Officer Class 2, he received a fatal gunshot wound to the head ‘not in action’, whilst serving with “D” Company in France, 31 March 1916.

Colour Sergeant Glass is buried in St Sever Cemetery, Rouen.
