A Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve Half Pint Tankard, E.P.N.S., with enamelled ‘V.R.’ emblem, and engraved ‘No. 27 E & R.F.T.S. Sgt. W. R. Travell First Solo 18th. April 1939’ good condition £60-80

Wilfred Roland Travell was commissioned Pilot Officer, General Duties Branch, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, on 19 February 1942, and was promoted Flying Officer on 1 October 1942, and Flight Lieutenant on 19 February 1944. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross whilst serving with No. 220 Squadron in 1944 (London Gazette 22 August 1944), and relinquished his commission on 13 June 1956.
