Pieter Willem Johannes Joubert was born on 15 March 1917, and attested for the South African Air Force on 30 August 1940. He was commissioned Second Lieutenant on 22 May 1944, and was released from service on 12 February 1946. He subsequently took up a civilian appointment with South African Airways.
