Dame Pooley Drake, daughter of George Onslow, M.P. for Guildford, was the second wife of Sir Francis Samuel Drake, 1st Baronet (1729 – 1789). An officer of the Royal Navy, Sir Francis Samuel Drake (a descendent of the Elizabethan naval hero Sir Francis Drake) served during the Seven Years' War and the American War of Independence, rising to the rank of Rear-Admiral of the Red.
