Jewellery, Watches and Objects of Vertu

An Anglo Saxon large gilt bronze sword pommel or cap, 9th century AD, ornamented with a central dome in the outline of a cross, chip carved with a scroll pattern on the sides with smaller indented crosses at each end, V-punched decoration along each side, pierced at each end for attachment to the sword hilt, 76mm long x 19mm wide x 13mm high. Found in Itford, Sussex in 1984. Very fine. £400-£500
