Germany, Ost-West-Ozeanflug der Bremen, 1928, a matt silver medal by the Bavarian mint, conjoined busts of von Hünefeld and Köhl left, rev. aeroplane, 37mm (FMB 198; Kaiser 931); another, silver, Bremen above the waves, rev. the names of Kohl, Hunefeld and Fitzmaurice in wreath, 36mm (FMB 203; Kaiser 935) [2]. Extremely fine, second proof-like (£50-80)

This and the medals in the following three lots commemorate the first non-stop East-West crossing of the Atlantic made in the Bremen aeroplane by Hermann Köhl, Baron F. von Hünefeld and Major James Fitzmaurice on 12-13 April 1928
