Sir Benjamin Collins Brodie (1783-1862), surgeon; Samuel Christian Friedrich Hahnemann (1755-1843), founder of homeopathy; Xavier Bichat (1771-1802), French anatomist, surgeon of the Hôtel Dieu, Paris and the so-called father of histiology; Mathéo José Bonaventure Orfila (1787-1853), born in Minorca, was the founding president of the Association des Médecins in 1833
