Charles I (1625-1649), Exeter mint, Halfcrown, ‘1642’, mm. Truro rose on obv., Exeter rose on rev., King, holding marshal’s baton aloft, galloping over arms, rev. scroll garnished oval shield with lion’s paws at sides and date in cartouche at bottom, 14.52g/10h (Besly L28; SCBI Brooker 1014, same dies; N 2534; S 3071). Small striking split at 11 o’clock and small dig in obverse field, otherwise very fine and very rare (£7,000-8,000)
