Wyon, arms of Dover and the Cinque Ports in trilobe, rev. legend in wreath (Presented by the College Council), edge named (Awarded to H.F. Mayes, Dover College), 48mm, 62.23g (cf. DNW M13, 1034); Victoria, Golden Jubilee, 1887, Schoolchildren of Dover, a white metal medal by Heaton & Sons, veiled bust left, rev. presented…by w.h. crundall mayor, 38mm, 14.55g (W & E 2170E.1) [2]. Dover College, set in the grounds of St Martin Priory, opened in September 1871. The mayor in 1884 was Thomas Viney Brown. Sir William Henry Crundall (1847-1934), from a long-standing Dover shipbuilding family, served as mayor of Dover no less than 13 times between 1886 and 1910 and was chairman of the Dover Harbour Board
