A gold and turquoise pendant, by Murrle Bennett & Co, the central pearl-shaped cabochon turquoise collet set within a scrolled mount of polished yellow gold, with single seed pearl highlight and suspending three oval cabochon turquoise drops below, stamped ‘15ct’ and bearing maker’s mark, on a belcher-link chain suspension from a facetted suspensory loop, total pendant length 65mm. £300-500

The jewellers Murrle, Bennett & Co (1896-1914) was established at 13 Charterhouse Street, London, formed by the German born Ernst Murrle who entered into partnership with the English jeweller John Baker Bennett. Working in both gold and silver, goods were manufactured in Pforzheim, Germany, and exported to Great Britain, the company becoming known for their designs in the Art Nouveau style, with a Celtic inspired interlac element. The use of turquoise matrix with gold was a popular combination.
