An Indian Mutiny 1857-58 Brooch comprising a heavy silver cross enamelled with red stripes, representing the riband of the medal, the centre containing a miniature of the Indian Mutiny medal, the reverse of the cross with brooch fitting and inscribed ‘J. Doyle Smithe, 2nd June 1858’, very fine £200-240

Joseph Doyle-Smithe was born in 1838, and is listed in the India Office lists as a magistrate in the Indian Civil Service.
