King’s Medal for Service in the Cause of Freedom, unnamed as issued, on lady’s bow riband, in Royal Mint case of issue, in outer card box, extremely fine £300-400
Jessie E. Hutchinson was born on 26 January 1911, and emigrated to the United States of America in the early 1920s. She served during the Second World War with the British War Relief Society, heading up the Society in Ohio, and was awarded the King’s Medal for Service in the Cause of Freedom, the recommendation stating: ‘For outstanding service to the B.W.R.S.’ After the War she continued with her medical practice in Geneva, Ohio, and died at Groveport, Ohio, United States of America on 8 July 2003, aged 92.
Sold together with notification letter from the British Ambassador, Washington, D.C., dated 9 July 1946, in envelope; and British Embassy enclosure letter for the medal, dated 26 November 1948.
