Crimea 1854-56, 3 clasps, Alma, Balaklava, Sebastopol (3432. James. Hendrie. 79. Cameron. Highlanders) regimentally impressed naming, with contemporary silver top riband buckle, suspension claw re-affixed, soldier repair between 2nd and 3rd clasps, top left-hand lug missing, nearly very fine £260-300

James Hendrie was born in 1836, and attested for 79th Foot at Edinburgh, in January 1854. He advanced to Corporal in 1855, only to be reduced to Private by the end of the year after a period of ‘confinement’. He was appointed Piper in October 1856, and purchased his discharge for £20 at Canterbury in February of the following year (Pipers of the Highland Regiments 1854-1902, by R. H. Crawford refers).
