Military General Service 1793-1814, 7 clasps, Busaco, Fuentes D’Onor, Ciudad Rodrigo, Badajoz, Salamanca, Vittoria, Pyrenees (S. Herron, Lieut. 74th. Foot.) some clasps reaffixed to carriage having sprung, good very fine £1800-2200

Provenance: Glendining’s, February 1927 and June 1941.

Samuel Herron was commissioned into the 74th Foot as an Ensign on 7 September 1809, on the recommendation of Lord Dufferin, having previously served as an Ensign with the Royal North Down Militia. He served with the Regiment throughout the Peninsula, before transferring to the 24th Foot on 6 November 1823. He retired on 28 November 1828, and subsequently resided at Hill House, Lisburn, Ireland.
