The Leicestershire Regiment 1st Volunteer Battalion Officer’s Helmet Plate c. 1883-1901, a scarce example which has been replated and regilded quite recently, a crowned eight pointed star back plate with laurel and Garter overlays, in the centre on a ground of red velvet the label of cadency for the old royal earldom of Leicester being three gilt lions with a silver bar across the top lion, double title scroll below in gilt ‘The Leicestershire Regiment’ and ‘1st Volunteer Battalion’, complete with three loop fasteners, the cushions of the crown with two small holes otherwise condition as stated
