Hertfordshire Rifle Volunteers 2nd Administrative Battalion Officer’s Blue Cloth Helmet c. 1878-1883, a very fine example, the rounded peak skull complete with all silver plated fittings, the frontal plate being an uncrowned eight pointed star mounted with a Hart trippant, buff leather sweat band, purple silk lining and retailer’s label for ‘Samuel Brothers, London’, the plate is original to the helmet, one minute nick in the cloth near the quadrant and a very small moth nip to the cloth bottom bracing band otherwise very fine condition £500-600
