The Royal West Kent Regiment 1st Volunteer Battalion Officer’s Blue Cloth Helmet c. 1883-1901, the rounded peak skull complete with all silver plated fittings, the helmet plate of crowned star pattern with laurel and Garter overlays, in the centre on a ground of black velvet the White Horse of Kent, on a scroll ‘Invicta’, a scroll above ‘Quo Fas Et Gloria Ducunt’, double scroll below ‘The Royal West Kent Regiment’ ‘1st Volunteer Battalion’, buff leather sweat band with ivory silk lining, retailed by ‘Hobson & Sons, London’, the plate is original to the helmet, a small moth hole on the front peak area neatly repaired and slight moth damage to the cloth bracing band near the left hand chin chain rosette, minor loss of leather trim on the back peak, otherwise very good overall condition £500-600
