Ayre.); together with a Great War Masonic Million Memorial Fund Jewel, silver; Royal Masonic Institute for Girls 1919 Star, silver and enamel; Royal Masonic Institute for Boys Medal 1930, silver and enamel, with top ‘Steward’ riband bar and riband emblem; Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution Medal 1931, gilt and enamel, with top ‘Steward’ riband bar; and Royal Masonic Institute for Boys Medal 1933, gilt and enamel, with top ‘Steward’ riband bar and riband emblem, all mounted in a Spink, London glazed display frame, nearly extremely fine (8) £200-300

Sydney Ayre, of Hoddeston, Hertfordshire, attested for the London Regiment and served during the Great War with the 12th Battalion on the Western Front from 24 December 1914. He was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the 11th Battalion, London Regiment, on 18 September 1915, and received a Silver War badge in September 1918.

Note: The frame housing the medals has not been opened, and the reverses of the medals have not been inspected.
The recipient’s Medal Index Card states ‘Star and Medals returned by G.P.O. 25 April 1921. Reissued 22 August 1923’.
