Ernest Berry, of Coppull, near Chorley, Lancashire, attested for the Royal Field Artillery and served during the Great War on the Western Front from 22 August 1915. He was awarded the Military Medal whilst serving with ‘D’ (Howitzer) Battery, 74th Brigade, Royal Field Artillery, which formed part of The Guards Division throughout the War.
