Fred Doody attested for the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment at Chesterfield, Derbyshire, and served with the 9th Battalion during the Great War in the Balkan theatre of War in 1915, and subsequently in France and on the Ypres Salient. He was discharged on 16 April 1919, and is additionally entitled to a Silver War Badge.
