1st Cinque Ports Rifle Volunteers Officer’s Grey Cloth Helmet c. 1878-1902, the skull complete with all silver plated fittings, the frontal plate of crowned cross pattern, on the circle ‘Cinque Ports Rifle Volunteers’, in the centre a strung bugle horn enclosing ‘1’, the plate appears to be original to the helmet, buff leather sweatband with red silk lining, supplier’s details ‘Samuel Brothers, Ludgate Hill’, together with a photocopy of some history of the Cinque Ports Rifle Volunteers, the spike is of other ranks pattern and does not fit properly, otherwise very good overall condition £600-700
