Army Veterinary Department Officer’s Blue Cloth Helmet c. 1881-1901, the skull complete with all gilt metal fittings, the frontal plate of crowned star pattern with laurel and Garter overlays, in the centre on a ground of black vitreous enamel a silver ‘AVD’ monogram, the plate is original to the helmet supplied by ‘Hawkes & Co., London’, buff leather sweatband with crimson silk lining, very small moth holes including one to the front peak, the gilt very good on the frontal plate and on the chin chain supports otherwise lacking, very good overall condition £400-500
