20th Lancashire Rifle Volunteers Officer’s Green Cloth Helmet c. 1880-88, the skull complete with all silver plated fittings, the frontal plate of crowned Bath star format, central title circle ‘Lancashire Rifle Volunteers’ enclosing a strung bugle horn with ‘20’ within the strings, this on a ground of red cloth, the plate is original to the helmet, buff leather sweatband with crimson silk and quilted ivory silk linings, the front peak metal trim fractured in one place, the chin chain lining part perished and elements of the rear peak leather trim lacking, the quilted lining perished and some loss of pile to the skull otherwise sound condition £400-500

Note: In 1888 the Corps became the 5th Volunteer Battalion the Manchester Regiment.
