2nd Somersetshire Rifle Volunteers Officer’s Grey Cloth Helmet c. 1878-83, a very fine example, the skull complete with all silver plated fittings, the frontal plate of crowned cross pattern, in the centre a circle ‘Somersetshire Rifle Volunteers’ enclosing ‘2’ on a ground of black leather, the plate is original to the helmet, buff leather sweatband, crimson silk lining, extremely fine overall condition, together with its metal carrying tin this with indistinct stencilled details (2) £600-800
