Naval General Service 1915-62, 2 clasps, Malaya, G.VI.R., Near East (Lieut. T. A. de L. Simonds. R.M.) edge nick, nearly extremely fine £400-500

Thomas Andrew de Luze Simonds was born in Epsom, Surrey, in 1929 and was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the Royal Marines on 1 January 1947. He joined H.M.S. Liverpool on 11 April 1949, was promoted Lieutenant on 1 April 1950, and joined 42 Commando on 20 October of that year. He completed the Norwegian Army Winter Warfare course in 1954, and served with 42 Commando in Malaya and during the Suez crisis as part of Operation Musketeer. Promoted Captain on 1 April 1958, future postings included serving at the Infantry Training Centre, Royal Marines, from 1967; as Second in Command R.M. Eastney from December 1971, and serving at the Commando Training Centre from 1975. He retired with the rank of Major on 11 April 1977, and died at Ottery St. Mary, Devon, on 4 June 2012.
