Robert Muir was born at Bonnyrigg, Midlothian, and attested for the Royal Scots at Dalkeith, Midlothian. He served with the 8th Battalion during the Great War, and was killed in action on the Western Front on 16 May 1915. He has no known grave and is commemorated on Le Touret Memorial, France.
