Frederick Francis was born in Derby and attested for the 10th (Prince of Wales’s Own Royal) Hussars at Nottingham. He served with them during the Great War and was killed in action on the Western Front on 6 June 1915. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium.
