Graham Henry was born at Westmeath, Ireland, in 1789, and had 3 years service in the West Meath Militia prior to being appointed an Ensign in the 36th Foot on 6 November 1806, and promoted to Lieutenant on 2 March 1808. He served with the 36th Foot in the Peninsula from September 1811 to April 1812, and, as Captain in the 14th Portuguese Infantry from 23 May 1812 until April 1814. He was present at the ‘sieges of Ciudad Rodrigo and Badajoz; also at the battles of Vittoria, Nivelle, Nive, and Orthes; attack on the Pass of Maio, the battle of St Pierre, 13th December 1813, defence of Alba de Tormes, and the battle of Toulouse, and various minor affairs.’ He was appointed Captain in the 2nd Portuguese Infantry on 15 December 1814, and placed on half-pay on 25 December 1814. Restored to full-pay as a Captain he was appointed as Sub-Inspector of Militia, Ionian Islands, from 24 September 1823, until he retired as a Captain half-pay unattached on 23 November 1827. He was made Brevet Major in the 69th Foot on 10 January 1837, and promoted to Brevet Lieutenant-Colonel in the same regiment on 11 November 1851. Lieutenant-Colonel Graham Henry died at Lambridge, Bath, on 25 December 1861.
