Herbert Lewis Thomas enlisted into the Public Schools Battalion, Royal Fusiliers, and went to France on 12 November 1915. He was commissioned into the 6th Battalion, South Wales Borderers, on 25 September 1916, becoming Lieutenant on 26 March 1918, and was wounded at Sopignies on 25 March 1918.

Charles Jones was born at Caerleon, near Newport, South Wales, and enlisted at Brecon into the 2nd Battalion, South Wales Borderers. He landed at Lao Shan Bay on 23 September 1914, for operations against the German territory of Tsingtao. Returning to England in January 1915, the battalion embarked at Avonmouth in March 1915 for operations at Gallipoli, landing at Cape Helles on 25 April 1915. Corporal Jones died of wounds following the action at Turkey Trench, Gully Ravine, on 29 June 1915, and is buried in East Mudros Military Cemetery, Lemnos, Greece.
