A Great War 1918 ‘Battle of the Selle’ M.M. group of three awarded to Guardsman T. W. Davis, Grenadier Guards

Thomas Walter Davis, a native of Stockland Green, Birmingham, was born in 1898 and attested for the Grenadier Guards. He served with the 2nd Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front, and was awarded the Military Medal for bravery in the field on 19 October 1918 (The Birmingham Mail, 31 December 1918 refers), on which date the 2nd Battalion, Grenadier Guards were in action during the Battle of the Selle. He transferred to the Army Reserve on 16 October 1919.

Sold together with a newspaper cutting detailing the award and containing a photograph of the recipient; and a fragment of the recipient’s discharge papers.
