Lt-Col George Ian Malcolm of Poltalloch (1903-76), grandson of Lillie Langtry; educ. Eton and Sandhurst; commissioned into Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders, 1923; ADC in India, 1927-8; adjutant in 8th (Argyllshire) battalion, 1933-7; member of the Royal Company of Archers, 1935; served in India, Egypt, Sudan and Palestine in World War II; commanded the 8th Bn in Austria, 1945-6; retired 1947; produced the Vienna Tattoo, 1946, the Edinburgh Tattoo, 1949-51 and the Royal Tournament, 1953; lived at Lochgilphead, Argyllshire.
