Victoria (1837-1901), Pattern Five Pounds, 1839, by W. Wyon, in gold, young head left with fillets of six scrolls and eleven leaves, rev. Una and the Lion, the Queen, wearing coronet and robes of the Garter and holding orb in her left hand, guiding the lion with her sceptre, legend dirige deus gressus meos around, edge decus et tutamen anno regni tertio in small letters with rosette stops within wire edge raised rims, 38.44g/12h (WR 278; L & S 17; S 3851). Minor hairlines in fields and small rim nick on reverse at 12 o’clock, otherwise practically as struck, one of the finest specimens known, very rare (£16,000-18,000)
