GLOUCESTERSHIRE, Bristol, Bristol Grammar School, a silver award medal, unsigned, arms of Robert Thorne, rev. legend in wreath, un-named, 43mm, 38.43g (D & W 213/98); City of Bristol, a uniface silver award medal, unsigned, arms and supporters, back inscribed (It is not the hours you put in that count, but what you put into the hours), 32mm, 13.96g; Bristol Education Committee, Regular Attendance & Satisfactory Conduct silver award medals by Vaughton (2), arms and supporters, revs. legend around wreath, named (Alfred Bambury, 6 Years; Lily Curnock, 6 Years), hallmarked Birmingham 1911 and 1914, 44 and 32mm, 44.33g, 15.72g [4]. About extremely fine and better, all with light grey tone; first with swivel suspension £60-80

Second medal only illustrated. Bristol Grammar School was founded in 1532 by Robert and Nicholas Thorne, members of the wealthy Thorne family of Bristol merchants. The present school in Tyndalls Park dates to 1879
