Sussex Rifle Volunteer Badges and Buttons and Three Georgian Period Sussex Militia and Volunteer Buttons, a carded display comprising two shako plates of the 16th (Battle) Rifle Volunteers of 1861 pattern both of three part construction, one in silver plate being an officer’s and the other in die stamped white metal, both display Battle Abbey in the centre with unit title in surround ‘Battle Rifle Volunteers’; a blackened metal and silver plated pouch belt plate this of crowned laurel outline with central mount in silver or silver plate of Battle Abbey (two screw post fasteners); an officer’s pouch belt plate of the First Sussex Volunteer Rifles (Brighton) this of crowned oak sprays with full unit title enclosing the two Dolphins and the Arms of Brighton; an other ranks white metal glengarry of the ‘Sussex Rifle Volunteers’ being a crowned unit title strap with central shield bearing six martlets; an other ranks white metal large size tunic button to the Brighton Volunteer Rifles, six white metal tunic buttons to the Sussex Rifles. An officer’s silver plated coatee button to the Sussex Volunteers c. 1803-8, two officers silver plated coatee buttons to the Sussex Militia c. 1790-1820 (one excavated), together with an other ranks standard bi-metal cap badge to the Royal Sussex Regiment, very good overall condition with all fasteners present (16) £600-800
