The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) 5th Volunteer Battalion Officer’s Green Cloth Helmet c. 1884-1908, the skull complete with all silver plated fittings, the frontal plate of special pattern displaying a Guelphic crown over thistle sprays these mounted with a Sphinx and a China Dragon, in the voided centre a mullet over a strung bugle horn, double title scroll below ‘5thVolr. Battn’ ‘The Scottish Rifles’, buff leather sweatband with quilted silk lining, the plate is original to the helmet, very good overall condition £600-800
