53rd (Shropshire) Regiment a Major’s 1869 Pattern Shako Together with Correct Pattern Tin, the blue cloth body complete with correct pattern shako plate and side ornaments, the chin chain a modern replacement, the gold lace trim for a Major is oxidised; the frontal plate of crowned laurel and Garter pattern with pierced numerals ‘53’ these with their original gauze ventilator backing, the plate appears to be original to the shako, the sweatband is missing but original silk lining present by ‘Hawkes & Co.,’ correct pattern plume and plume holder, good condition apart from the defects mentioned (2) £400-500
