A Great War A.R.R.C. attributed to Miss Hildegarde N. Hollings, Voluntary Aid Detachment

Royal Red Cross, 2nd Class (A.R.R.C.), G.V.R., silver and enamel, on lady’s bow riband; together with the recipient’s related miniature awards, these additionally including the British War and Victory Medals, with M.I.D. oak leaves, mounted as worn, good very fine £120-160

Miss Hildegard (Hilda) Nina Hollings was born in 1891, in Frimley, the daughter of Herbert John Butler Hollings Esq., and his wife Nina, and served during the Great War on the Western Front from 21 June 1916 to 6 July 1919. She married Commander Lindsay Richard Venn, R.N., in 1926 and served during the Second World War with the Emergency Transport of St George’s Hospital. She died in 1942 in Kensington, London.
