India General Service 1854-95, 2 clasps, Burma 1885-7, Burma 1887-89 (1495 Pte. J. Daylor 2nd. Bn. R.W. Surr. R.) very fine £160-200

John Daylor was born in Lambeth, London, in 1860, and attested for the 48th Brigade at Colchester on 5 May 1880. Posted to the 2nd Battalion, Queen’s Regiment, he served in India from 18 December 1880, and in Upper Burma from 4 October 1886 until 20 October 1887. He returned home on 8 December 1887, and transferred to the Army Reserve later that month, and was finally discharged on 2 May 1892, after 12 years’ service. On the outbreak of the Boer War he re-attested for the Royal Reserve at London on 12 March 1900, and served for a further year, being discharged on 11 March 1901.
